While in Utah
Salt Lake City is a great place to live, work, and play. Whether you love spending time in the outdoors or prefer the cultural offerings and nightlife of a city, you’ll find plenty to do. Numerous recreational opportunities including world-class skiing, hiking, mountain biking are just minutes away, and a few hours drive will take you to the amazing slickrock of Southern Utah and any of Utah’s five national parks. Salt Lake City is also home to numerous professional sport teams, art galleries, museums, universities and a variety of live theater and music. But don’t just take our word for it, read why Nelson Labs’ employees love living in Utah!

AMY KARREN:
If you like the outdoors, Utah is the place to be. Nature in Utah is accessible, serene and revitalizing. I can be on the chairlift in 22 minutes from my home. (Yes, I have timed it.) Utah’s skiing is legendary and there’s something for every ability level.
EMILY MITZEL:

Utah has exactly what its license plate states, the “greatest snow on earth.” One of my loves is backcountry skiing in the winter. This allows me to venture out into the mountains where I can enjoy fabulous views and ski in places not many people would go. The physical nature of this activity gives me an outlet for my stress so I am ready and excited to tackle a new work week on Monday morning. My favorite backcountry skiing locations are Mt. Raymond, Little Water, and Silver Fork.
MARLO TABIN:
Utah is a great place to live because of its strong sense of community and everyone’s willingness to help each other. I have made lasting friendships here and those around me have encouraged me to reach my potential.
JIM KING:

After having lived throughout Europe and the United States, I've come to the conclusion that there’s nowhere I’d rather live. Where else in the world can you head out into the mountains and enjoy multi-seasonal activities in one outing? Only in Utah!
STACIE PEART:
Utah offers a lot of great music entertainment, whether you enjoy hip-hop, rock, country or a mix. Local bands and artists as well as big name musicians make stops at the hundreds of venues along the Wasatch Front. Some of my favorite venues include Saltair, nestled next to the Great Salt Lake; The E-Center, also home to the Utah Grizzlies; and many of the smaller clubs and bars.
TERA SUNDER:
I have lived all over the country, but my family and I feel we have finally found a home in Utah. Fall is my favorite season here—the fall foliage in the mountains is so beautiful—but every season offers something to do. My family and I love to hike and there are so many trails just a few miles from our house. In the winter we ski, snowboard and go tubing. We also enjoy going to the Sundance Film festival every year.
SUE REYNOLDS:

Utah offers some amazing outdoor experiences that are unique to the area, such as paragliding at the Point of the Mountain and sailing on the Great Salt Lake. My husband and I consider the Great Salt Lake one of Utah’s best kept secrets. Utah is probably the only place in the world where you can go skiing in the morning, sailing in the afternoon, and enjoy a BBQ in the evening while watching some of the best sunsets on the planet.
TONY GORDON:
The Beehive State contains one of the most diversified habitats we have ever experienced. We regularly hike into the alpine terrain of the mountains and explore the rugged raw beauty of the deserts. We often seek out hidden streams and wildflower meadows in the Stansbury Mountains, while another day takes us into the cragged ravines and cliffs of the desert with its surprising wildlife and geology. There is no better form of relaxation then a day spent in Utah’s unbelievable splendor.
DANIEL OLSEN:

One reason I love living in Utah is the great variety of scenery that is so easily accessible. From the Great Salt Lake and one-of-a-kind Bonneville Salt Flats to the beautiful evergreen and aspen forests of the Wasatch and Uintah Mountains to the awe-inspiring sandstone formations of Arches, Zion, and Bryce Canyon National Parks, where else is such a varied landscape available within a few hours drive?
NIKKI VOSHELL:

One of my favorite Utah locations is a small canyon called Parley’s Gully, a wonderful off-leash trail that my dogs and I enjoy on a regular basis. With its bubbling brook and many trees, you feel like you’re miles away from the city. It’s a peaceful walk and you’ll always find new friends every time you go!
JENNIFER WILSON:
One of my favorite things about Utah is the variety of cultural opportunities paired with the scenery and wild places so close the city center. There are several museums and downtown galleries in Salt Lake, including Nelson Labs own Utah artist gallery. However, my favorite place to enjoy art is in Nine Mile Canyon by Price, Utah. It’s known as the world’s longest outdoor museum. The canyon walls are covered with petroglyphs and pictographs. Each time I go, I discover something new.
